Jackson, MS (February 23, 2010): No one needs convincing of the disturbing change occurring in the attitudes of children today. Many children today have no respect, for others or for themselves. Jill Rigby Garner, award winning author of RAISING RESPECTFUL CHILDREN IN A DISREPECTFUL WORLD will provide parents with a proactive guide to combat these negative influences in media and society.  Her goal is to guide parents in raising children who are respectful, engaged, and grateful.

The message from Jill’s book can be heard live from the author/speaker herself at Jackson Academy on Tuesday, April 13 in the Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World Seminar for parents.  Paramount in her message is replacing self-esteem with self-respect. Jill says, “When we seek to help kids feel good about themselves (the goal of self-esteem), we teach them to focus on themselves and how they feel and what they want. But when we help kids respect themselves, we teach them to focus on others and how othersfeel and what othersneed…” Shining the light of reality on the failed self-esteem philosophy, Jill will show parents how to raise children with self-respect; thus they will be stronger in their convictions and able to make wise decisions when faced with tough choices.

The seminarhosted by Jackson Academy is an essential tool for parents who want to foster strong values in their children. Topics from  Raising Respectful Children in a Disrespectful World will be discussed and the evening will conclude with a book signing. The seminar will be open to the public and surrounding communities.
