Family Engagement Questions

Wilbur teaches that being appropriate means knowing the right thing to do or say. When we think about how our words and actions affect others, we are following the Golden Rule – treating others the way we want to be treated.

Let’s practice:

• Your teacher is reading a book to the class. After awhile, you decide it would be more fun to play at the block center than sit still on the floor and listen… What should you do? Why?

• You see your classmate struggling with her classwork. She is becoming frustrated and sad. Because you have finished the assignment, you have time to either play or help someone else… What should you do? Why?

• At home, your mother is talking on the phone with a friend. You become hungry and decide you are ready for her to fix you a snack right now… What should you do? Why?
